Post-LSCS (Cesarean) Care
1. Pain Management
Take prescribed painkillers regularly for the first few days.
Use a pillow to support your incision when coughing or laughing.
2. Wound Care
Keep the incision clean and dry.
Avoid applying powders/oils unless advised by your doctor.
Watch for signs of infection:
Redness
Warmth
Pus/discharge
Increasing pain
Fever
3. Activity
Avoid lifting anything heavier than your baby for 4–6 weeks.
Start gentle walking early—it helps with circulation and recovery.
Avoid driving for 2 weeks or until you can brake comfortably.
4. Diet & Bowel Care
Eat fiber-rich foods and drink plenty of water to prevent constipation.
Take stool softeners if prescribed.
5. Breastfeeding
Feeding is safe and recommended.
Use positions that reduce pressure on your abdomen (football hold, side-lying).
6. Bleeding (Lochia)
Vaginal bleeding continues for 2–6 weeks.
Seek help if bleeding is very heavy, has foul smell, or contains large clots.
7. Emotional Care
Mood changes are common.
Seek help if you feel persistently sad, anxious, or overwhelmed.
8. Warning Signs—Seek Medical Attention If You Have:
Fever 100.4°F (38°C)
Severe abdominal pain
Excessive bleeding
Foul-smelling vaginal discharge
Leg swelling/pain (possible clot)
Shortness of breath
Severe headache with vision changes
