During pregnancy, finding a comfortable sleeping position can be challenging, especially as the belly grows. Here are some helpful sleeping positions to consider:
Side Sleeping (Best Position): Sleeping on your left side is generally considered the best position during pregnancy. It improves circulation, helping oxygen and nutrients flow to your baby and supporting kidney function, which can reduce swelling. It can also help prevent back pain.
Pillow Support: To stay comfortable, many pregnant people use pillows to support their belly, back, and between their knees. A body pillow or pregnancy pillow can help keep your body aligned.
Avoid Sleeping on Your Back: As the pregnancy progresses, sleeping on your back can cause pressure on the spine, intestines, and major blood vessels, which may lead to backaches, digestive issues, or dizziness.
Right Side Sleeping: Sleeping on the right side is also okay, though it's not as beneficial as the left side in terms of circulation. It can still help prevent pressure on the uterus.
Avoid Stomach Sleeping: As your belly grows, it will become increasingly uncomfortable and impractical to sleep on your stomach.
